The Borough of Northampton is a small, yet busy community, nestled peacefully in the Lehigh Valley, which is located about 60 miles north of Philadelphia. The area was first settled in 1740 and incorporated in 1902. Our current population is approximately 10,323. The community enjoys a rich, ethnic mixture that provides a true "melting pot" lifestyle and harmonious atmosphere.

Northampton has a fully staffed, Police Department, Fire Department, Public Works Department and various other committees and organizations. There is always plenty to do in Northampton, ranging from a day of shopping at all the various stores located in the Borough to a pleasant walk on the Canal Street Heritage Walkway. The Heritage Trail follows the Lehigh River for over a mile through the Borough and has some of the most picturesque scenery found for miles around. So come visit Northampton either just for a day trip or to check our one of the several well planned community events the Borough hosts.
